The training modules below are specific to laboratory safety requirements on the KU-Lawrence Campus. They are based upon our campus laboratory safety manual. At the end of each module is a self-test. Hopefully, these will help you better understand and comply with the requirements of our manual and document appropriate laboratory safety training.

(EHS TM 18) -- Lab Safety Awareness - used for Animal Care Orientation and Lab safety overview/awareness seminars presented by EHS.
(EHS TM 19) -- Safety for Non-Lab Personnel Accessing and/or Working in Laboratories.
(EHS TM 50) -- Safety for Authorized (Unsupervised) Occupants of Labs with Lasers/X-ray generating Equipment (without other Hazardous Materials in the lab.)
- Study TM 50 (exclusive of pages with titles in green fonts or sentences with words in green fonts) and/or LSM Part I (sections marked by an * and/or superscripts L or I as applicable).
  - Exam EHS 50
- Co-requisite: EHS 50P - Supervised Practice for EHS 50.
  - For documentation of 50 P use: EHS 50P Doc
(EHS TM 51) -- Safety for Authorized (Unsupervised) Occupants of Labs with Hazardous Materials.
- Study TM 51and/or LSM Part I, all parts.
  - Exam EHS 51
- Co-requisite: EHS 51P - Supervised Practice.
  - Special note: Authorized Occupants need only those parts of 51P that address non-handling safety procedures. Authorized Users need all of it.
  - For documentation of 51P use: EHS 51P Doc
(EHS TM 52) -- Safety in the Use of Hazardous Chemicals in a Laboratory.
- Pre-requisites: EHS TM 51, Exam EHS 51, & EHS 51P doc.
- Study TM 52 and/or LSM Part II.
  - Exam EHS 52
- Co-requisite: EHS 52P - Supervised Practice.
  - For documentation of 52 P Doc use: 51P Doc & 52P Doc.
(EHS TM 53) -- Safety in the Use of Biohazards in a Laboratory.
- Pre-requisites: EHS TM 51, Exam EHS 51 & EHS 51P.
- Study TM 53 and/or LSM Part III.
  - Exam EHS 53
- Co-requisite: EHS 53P - Supervised Practice.
  - For documentation of 53 P Doc use: 51P Doc & 53P Doc
(EHS TM 54) -- Safety in the Use of Ionizing Radiation
- EHS 54 and 54P are reserved for Part IV of the LSM.
- For required training in the use of sources of ionizing radiation (equipment or radioactive materials) contact the EHS Radiation Safety Services.

(EHS TM 55) -- Safety in the Use of Non-exempt Lasers in the Laboratory.
- Pre-requisites: EHS TM 50, Exam 50 & EHS 50P or EHS TM 51, Exam 51 & EHS 51P.

- Co-requisite: EHS 55P - Supervised Practice.
